The Hale Security Pet Door for walls is the best vinyl flap style
pet door on the market, and we feel the best insulating pet door bar
none. It is self-framing from 2 ½" to 10", and optional tunnels are available at 16" thick. Hale provides
carpeting for the aluminum sheet-metal tunnel section. They use a clear
vinyl flap with brush weather strip insulation around the flap to seal
it to the frame. A double flap pet door (recommended for better insulation)
has a flap on the inside of the door and a flap on the outside of the
door, with an insulating dead air space in between. The Hale pet doors
also use magnets on the sides and bottoms of the flaps for the best
wind resistance in a vinyl flap door. Hale has the largest number of sizes available of any pet
door manufacturer, making it easy to find a door for any pet.
The locking cover is 3/16" thick Lexan, which is the material used
in bullet proof windows, and it is secured by a spring loaded steel
deadbolt. Wall mounted pet doors are sometimes installed under a window sill or cabinet or other obstruction that prevents the locking cover from sliding in on top. If this is the case for you, you can order a sideways sliding locking cover instead of a top loading locking cover. When you go through the ordering process you can state whether you want the locking cover to slide in on the left, right, or the top.
The picture on the right shows a perfect wall installation.
The large door is just the right size for the Golden Retriever, and
it is installed so that the top of the flap is just an inch or two
higher than the dog's height to the top of his back.
The color sample on the right will vary with your particular monitor but it is shown to give an approximate idea of the colors available. Satin is actually a brushed aluminum, similar to the bottom of a soda can. A good description of the beige is like coffee with 2 creams in it.
