A patio pet door will provide your active pet with the freedom to frolic in the backyard instead of causing chaos indoors. A sliding glass pet door is often the best
option for a patio pet door installation. They are easy to install and remove,
and when removed they leave virtually no trace. This makes the sliding
glass door an ideal place to install a pet door for a person renting
their home. Below
the item descriptions you will find a quick guide on panel pet door
ordering. Click on the name or picture of an item to see the sliding glass pet door's specific
description, sizes, and prices.
The Thermo Panel III is the newest panel pet door on the market with a super
durable and extremely weather tight Endura flap. This door is very weather
tight and is very easy to install.
The Ideal VIP pet
door is the first pet door specially made for vinyl sliding glass doors.
It is a semi-permanent installation which is fairly involved, but it
is the first door on the market which uses the existing sliding glass
door lock.
The Pet 1 Products panel has dual pane glass, a large height adjustment range, a gas shock extension to adjust the height and a double thick flap assembly which swings open on a hinge rather than flexing to open.
The Hale Security panel
is a very weather tight panel. It has dual pane glass, dual flaps,
and an "adapter channel" which allows your slider to close
into the panel. Hale also has some very tall skinny flaps for arthritic
dogs that need a low rise.
The Quick Panel III is a quick and easy no tools required single pane panel
of high quality that uses the very weather tight Endura flap.
Pet Safe has
a panel that is spring loaded and a semi-permanent installation.
Ideal makes
a panel that is cheap and easy.
All of our Johnson panels
have been sold, but we still have a few extension panels to sell at
reduced prices that attach to a Johnson panel and make it fit a 96"
tall door.
Patio pet doors for sliding glass doors come in two basic varieties: temporary and semi-permanent.
Temporary doors are generally
spring loaded and require no cutting of the aluminum frame, so they
are very easy to install. They lock with a simple and secure pin lock
which requires drilling a hole through the top of the sliding door.
Temporary doors can be screwed in if desired. The Thermo Panel II,
Quick Fit II, and Ideal panels are temporary pet doors.
Semi-Permanent doors must be
screwed into the door frame to lock, and use a more conventional
hook and latch style lock. The Hale Security, Pet Safe, and Johnson
panels are semi-permanent pet doors. No patio pet door is designed to work
with your existing lock. These sliding glass pet doors will have their own lock that
will mount about a foot above the existing latch.
