Staywell Pet Door
The Staywell company just released this new electronic
pet door for large dogs. This electronic pet door replaces the older Staywell 51. The new door features
an infrared collar key, and battery power. Staywell says the AA batteries
will provide about 3 months of operation, if the pets use
the door about 4 times a day. Also available is an optional transformer
to allow the Staywell pet door to plug into a 110V outlet. If the transformer is
used in conjunction with the batteries, the door will be powered by
the outlet, but will have a battery backup. This option is highly
recommended for your own Staywell pet door!
Automatic Dog Door, Keep Cats In!
This rigid flap does overlap the frame,
so this automatic dog door is loud. The
noise makes it a good choice for letting your dog out while keeping
the cats in, as cats do not like the noise. However, due to the loud
noise this door makes it is best to install it in an area away from
bedrooms. The flap size is 11 x 16 ½, so it is sized
correctly for large dogs. If you have very small dogs or cats, check the Ani-Mate or Staywell 500 pet doors. The keys for the 861 are too large for smaller pets.
Keep Out Strays With Staywell's Doggy Door
The electronic funtion of this automatic pet door is meant
to prevent strays from getting into the house, and does not make
this door more burgular proof than another cat or dog door. Staywell also makes other pet doors of sizes and functions.
