The Catwalk is a magnetic door, not an electronic door. This means that there are no batteries to change and even if the power goes out your cat will still be able to get into the house. Comes with one pair of magnets, extra pairs available for $12.95.
The Makrolon (polycarbonate) flap is extremely tough. Since this door is not electronic it can be switched around to only allow cats with the keys access to the outside, and there is no worry about sealing battery covers or weather proofing the frame for the pet door.
