This custom pet door is exactly the same as the Hale Pet Door, but can be custom fit to your specific needs. Cost is figured by the size of the rough opening that you
are filling. In the case of the French door pet door, the hole that is left
by removing that piece of glass is the rough opening. Measure your
potential rough opening. Suppose that pane of glass is 12" x 12". Multiply
the width of the opening by the height of the opening to obtain the
size of the opening in square inches. A 12" x 12" opening is 144 square
inches. Then choose the size whose range includes your measurement,
in this case a 137 to 170 inch.
The door in the top picture was made taller than the
actual pane of glass. The wood framing was moved up, and a shorter
piece of glass made to fit the new smaller area above the pet door for French door.
In this way it is possible to get a taller pet through a French door.
This is a complicated installation, but it shows just what is possible
with a custom size dog door.
The one in the lower picture is the more typical installation
where a pane is removed and the pet door made to fit the resulting
hole. The pet door is in the picture is the bronze color.
Your actual flap dimension will be 2" inches narrower and 2" shorter
than the pane of glass or the rough opening. So again using a 12" x
12" example, the flap size will be 10" x 10".
The color sample on the right will vary with your particular
monitor, and the colors of the pet doors vary slightly by manufacturer,
but it is shown to give an approximate idea of the colors available.
Satin is actually a brushed aluminum, similar to the bottom of a soda
can.
